Alles om ons heen heeft structuur en textuur. Textuur wil zeggen: Alles om ons heen is gemaakt van een bepaald materiaal. Structuur: Is het glad, zacht, ruw etc. In het tekenen is het de weergave van het materiaal dat je wilt uitbeelden en met technieken geef je de structuur aan, bijvoorbeeld door te werken met een doezelaar als een structuur zacht is. De opdracht uit deze les: Teken vier verschillende voorwerpen uit de natuur. Geef textuur en structuur aan. De letters en cijfers geven de hardheden van de gebruikte grafietpotloden aan.
